RSI has entered a team in the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition. Our team, the Bay Area RSI Consortium, consists of 10 students from University of California, Berkeley and Stanford. Students will use a synthetic biology approach to build cells that spontaneously self-assemble into tissue-like structures. Our goals will be to build cells that could potentially treat people with damaged hearts or encircle and destroy tumors. The iGEM competition is sponsored by MIT. More about the iGEM competition can be found at
iGEM 2007. To see some of the projects that were completed last year, please see
iGEM 2006 Presentations.
